125th anniversary of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish

I am so blessed to be here to celebrate the 125th anniversary of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish.

What seems like a short time ago, I came to Calumet City to serve as Pastor of this church.  I must admit that when presented with this assignment, I had little knowledge of  Calumet City. On my first visit, I found a beautiful church building.  What I learned very quickly was that the people are what make this a loving, faith-based parish.  It is the people who have been a part of this church for all of their lives, those who have worshiped here for many years and still others new to the area  looking for a place to practice their faith who form this legacy of St. Andrew Parish. While originally founded by Poles, we are now a parish of many different ethnicities who have come together to serve and praise God and work to spread His message.

Today we pay tribute to the thousands and thousands who came before us to establish St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, to all those who served and worshipped over the years to help the parish grow and to those who continue to worship with us each week.

I would like to thank Cardinal Blase Cupich, Bishop Joseph Perry, my Brother Priests and Deacons, Counsel General of the Republic of Poland to Chicago, Mr. Piotr Semeniuk, The Honorable Michelle Markiewicz Qualkinbush, Mayor of Calumet City, Honored Guests and especially you, the parishioners and friends of  St. Andrew the Apostle Church for joining us in celebration of this milestone of our Parish.

Together, let us carry on our mission to know, love and serve God and neighbor!

May God continue to bless each of you and St. Andrew the Apostle Parish.
